After wrapping up several projects in early 2014 our construction schedule got a much needed breather. Thankfully it was short and sweet and the rest of 2014 is packed with several interesting projects. A few weeks ago we got the greenlight to tear into the latest Studio Build remodel. Located in Leawood KS we are currently gutting the 1950's all brick ranch. Over the past year we have had numerous potential clients speak to us about these large ranches and the potential for rehabbing them. This project is a great example of why you don't always need to add on to get what you want. We were able to redesign the interior and fit all of the clients wish list within the existing footprint of the home. Saving us much needed $$ to overspend on insulation and mechanical systems to make the home as energy efficient as possible.
The Demolition portion of the project is always an exciting time for us, uncovering all of the termite damage and previous poor remodeling techniques teaches us time and time again to not cut corners. Removing kitchen cabinets reveal a treasure trove of dropped mail, old family photos, and a mint 1987 Topps B.J. Surhoff rookie card.
